Mr. Cantor was appointed Vice Chair in April 2022, serving as an advisor to the company’s president and an external spokesperson on credit markets, ESG rating products, and climate-related analytics. From 2008 through 2022, Cantor served as Moody’s Chief Credit Officer and was responsible for the credit rating agency’s global credit strategy and thematic research, the quality and consistency of its ratings across regions and sectors, and the procedures, methodologies, models, and tools used in the determination of ratings. From 2009 to 2019, Mr. Cantor also served as Moody’s Corporation’s Chief Risk Officer and in this role, led the firm’s global risk management function.

Mr. Cantor was appointed Chair of the US National Committee of the Pacific Economic Council (PECC) in 2019 and appointed International Co-Chair of PECC in 2020. In 2015, Mr. Cantor was appointed by the U.S. State Department to a three-year term as a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC), during which he chaired ABAC’s Financial and Economic Working Group.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Mr. Cantor held a variety of positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, including in the Capital Markets Group and the Discount Window. He has taught economics at New York University, Columbia University, UCLA, and The Ohio State University. He obtained a BA degree from Tufts University and a PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
